Goal of ex situ genetic management of endangered species is reintroduction of captive individuals into the wild
-
-
-
Results
Genetic variability
Circular mating minimizes the pairwise coancestry (maximize allelic diversity) for all population sizes and time-lengths of management program considered.
According to Fox et al.(2008), a single generation of outcrossing should suffice to restore both gene diversity and population fitness.

Introduction to the wild

-
once Gc/mc is stopped, deleterious alleles, wich were previously masked under the heterozygotic form increase rapidly.

Methods
-
Circular mating
-
-
-
if couples fail to produce viable offspring, individual from stock pool that shared one parents with the 'childless couple' will be selected, if none available then individuals chosen at random from stock pool
-
-
Reintroduction to the wild -after 20 generations in captivity, they will be released to the wild
Optimization was performed to select parents. The con- tribution of each parent in the next generation was chosen in such a way that group coancestry of the offspring was minimized
