Culture and ICC

essentialism: common human nature, so there are common rules
culture relativism: assuming particularism, so you can not judge other cultures, because they are different
the problem with relativism: there is no room for improvements if we can not judge other cultures. It is a conformist thought that just accepts things as they are.

Barriers to ICC
Racialization
Setting differences between people because of their raze or ethnicity. Also leads to stigma and prejudices
Othering
Making a differentiation between 'you' and 'the others'. Can lead to stigmatization and creating more distance between groups. It's not only about cultures but groups and minorities.
Nationalism
Afraid of losing their own cultural identity. People with a need of feeling attached to their country, with a strong feeling of belonging. Not so open to 'others' into their national space.

what is culture?
ethnicity: would be like the flavours. It is part of the heritage of the person. Same race people can have different ethnicities
-
race: based on the colours of the jellybeans, like a human contract
