the character is unique because while she is a maid for lady olivia however unlike what yoiu would think she would be she is cunning, smart and quite the mastermind.
Maria's strengths are her quick witty thinking skills and her ability to make even the stupidest of things sound more believable
Maria's weaknesses are thinking things through right to the end and not having the ability to show much compassion towards other people.
Because Maria doesn't have much compassion she lead everyone to believing that Malvolio was crazy and didn't feel any remorse for it which meant that in the end she is punished serverly by Malvolio.
Maria's behavior in Twelfth night is not what you would expect from a maid of a rich household. She is cunning and clever however she used these strengths in the wrong ways which lead into quite the law offence.
Maria would have come from a middle-low class home and would have been employed by Olivia as her personal maid due to her clever and loyal ways

Maria's motivations for what she does and her role in the play is the fact that she is loyal to Olivia and believes that what she is doing for Olivia is right.

Maria didn't know in the story about the fact that she was kind of acting on lies as the fact that Olivia never would have loved Malvolio anyway and so then she got herself punished for something that was not necessary to be done
Identification Factors
Maria's flaws of thinking plans through and letting her plans get so horrible during the story is introduced in the note she gave to Malvolio and the fact that she was constantly egging on Malvolio to make him look worse in front of Olivia
She was mainly talking to sirs Andrew and Toby as she showed them just how well her plan has worked and won the respect over of the two sirs.
Internal conflicts of Maria is that she in her mind thinks that what she is doing is best for lady Olivia but she constantly has the fear of what would happen to her if Olivia was to find out what Maria had done
external conflicts are between being loyal and active for Olivia at the same time as being loyal to the sirs which Olivia despises of.
