workforce and in management has simultaneously spurred wider scientific interest in the interface between work, family and personal life (Poelmans et al , 2008)
Female managers are often torn between their managerial and family roles, which makes them feel guilty and stressed (Greenhaus and Beutell, 1985; Ruderman et al., 2002)
Gender role have historically tended to endorse the woman’s role as a wife and the husband’s authority
over her (Crompton and Lyonette, 2006)

Outcomes / Implication
traditional gender role construction makes the option of staying home or choosing a less demand career are easy to find out rather than male spouse as a female manager.
Findings
A typology distinguishing five types of spouses was constructed: determining, supporting, instrumental, flexible, and counterproductive spouse
Our findings show that the spouse’s meaning for the woman’s career can be constructed in many diverse ways
