Naming of non-carbonyl f.g
1- Halocarbons
They are H.C that replaced H by halogen
Steps of naming:
1- Start numbering the parent chain in a way to give functional FG lowest number
2- follow alphabetical order in naming halogens
3- use prefix number to find their order
4- change ending by halogen by adding -O
CL - CHLORO / F - FLURO / BR - BROMO / L - LODO
2-Alcohol
R-OH
Steps of naming:
1- Choose longest chain
2- Give the (OH) gp the lowest number
3- name any alkyl gp and its position
4- name parent chain according to number of carbon
5- remove the (e) and replace it with (ole)
6- identify location of (oh) gp using number of parent chain
They are hydrocarbons where H is replaced by OH
( Hydroxyl group ).
Teritary: C bounded to OH at attached to 3 gps.
Secondary: When OH is attached to 1 H
Primary: When C is bounded to 2H and 1 OH
3- Etheres
Steps of naming
1- Name the 2 gps attached to the o as alkyl group
2- write them based on alphabetical order
3-end the word with the word ethere
4- if r is benzene it will be called phenyl
5- if the 2 grps are the same name them once without (di)
4- Amines
Organic compound that have an amino group (NH2) attached somewhere on the carbon chain
Steps of naming:
1-The NH2 is called amine
2- When only one amino acid is present the finale -e is dropped
3- if more than one amino acid is present the prefix di-tr-tetra is used
