Materials
Duralumin- alloy of alluminium (copper, magnesium, manganese)- high tensile strength, hard
Medium carbon steel - tough , weldable, machinability
titanium - good corrosion resistant , tough, high compressivestrength
aluminium - Light weight, Corrosion resistant (oxidization), recyclable . however really low tensile strength, ductile.

Finishes
Galvanizing - Corrosion resistant zinc layer, however if the layer is scratched it will cause rust propagate though out the base metal.
Electroplating - Electroplating is a process that uses an electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode such as a steel.
Dip coating - Dip coating provides a protective shield that resists corrosion. Insulates against heat. however the finish is uneven and drip marks are visible.

Existing Product
The Existing Product results in short grain being present in the wood which can lead to cracks going along the grain weakening the connection of the two beams that can lead to beams failure. This is cause by holes being drilled next to the edge of the plank creating forms of short grain.
