Other health impairments - This refers to chronic health problems as possible reasons such as; asthma, ADD, ADHD, epilepsy, cardiac conditions, leukemia and many others
School nurses aren't the only ones who can administer medication or check the students insulin level. If teachers are trained to assist student with injecting themselves this can be done quickly and effortlessly.
There is an application called "Nightscount Project", All devices synced to a specific account will keep everyone updated about the students diabetic condition (CGM = Continuous Glucose Monitoring) at all times. This way the teacher will know immediately if the student may need assistance and be able to prevent the blood sugar levels to a dangerous level
Another interesting assistive technology is having a Diabetic Alert Dog. These dogs are trained to smell when a child/patients blood sugar is going up or down and alert the patient. Unfortunately these dogs cost around 10,000 dollars and are not covered by health insurance.

Smart apps such as "OneTouch Verio Meter" can test a drop of blood and give a summary of overall health as well as tell whether sugar levels are within range. This glucose meter can be plugged into the headphone jack of a smartphone and display the necessary information.
Classroom accommodations
Teacher needs to be aware of testing the student in private.
Addressing the student in private about their current sugar levels
Teacher may need to provide either medication, emergency snack or water. This can be tricky when dealing with very young students.
Teacher should always be connected to the application or device of which the student is monitored. One bad/unbalanced meal can have a dramatic affect on the students health and performance in class.
