Formative Assessment
Definition: An assessment that collects data to monitor student learning. This type of assessment allows teachers to improve students' learning by adjusting instruction if necessary. Examples include: 1 Sentence Summary, Question-Connect-Reason
Diagnostic Assessment
Definition: An assessment used to determine a student's skills and weaknesses. The purpose of this type of assessment is to appropriately identify the student's needs and areas that require growth. These assessment are also often used in qualifying student for SPED services. Examples include: ADOS, WJ-4
Summative Assessment
Definition: An assessment that collects data to evaluate students' growth at the completion of a unit in comparison with a predefined standard or benchmark. Examples include:Project/Presentation, Final Exam
