Formative
Definition: Formative assessments are a way for students to give feedback on how much they are learning throughout a lesson or unit. This allows the teacher to modify and adjust instruction.
Questioning: Questioning is a great way to have a formative assessment because the teacher can question the students throughout the lesson to check for understanding, and make necessary adjustments right away.
Exit Ticket: Exit tickets are used at the end of the lesson to assess what they students learned, so the teacher can decide where to take the lesson the following day.

Definition: Benchmarks are assessments that determine if the student is on the right track in the learning process, and to help determine if they are on track to do well on future assessments.

Definition: Summative assessments are used to assess learning at the end of a unit. They are usually worth a large percentage of the grade since they re assessing overall learning for the unit.
End of unit test: This is a summative assessment because students are being tested at the end of the unit to determine how much they learned.

Definition: A performance assessment is an assessment that requires the student to perform a task instead of take a test or answer questions.
Act it out: Student will show their learning by acting out what they have learned. This shows a thorough understanding.
Science experiments: Students complete science experiments to complete a task, proving what they have learned.
