Definition:
Formative assessments are assignments that check for student understanding and provide feedback for students on how to enhance their performance.
They also serve as a guide for teachers on how to differentiate instruction to improve student achievement.
They're not always graded, they're mainly used as practice for students.

Provides information and feedback that sums up the teaching and learning process. Assesses what has been learned and how well it was learned.
