Assessments
Formative
Formative Assessments are used as a tool modify instruction and adjust as needed to improve student achievement. These assessments have little or no point value in relation to grades.
Round Robin Charts: Students in groups will answer a open ended question on a graph paper and pass it to different groups throughout the classroom. Once every group has worked on every chart, the class will discuss the different responses.
Classroom Polls: Polls allow students to give responses quickly and accurately. This also accounts for the students who don't like speaking up as it's a fast way to check for understanding by using technology.
Interim/Benchmark
Intermin/Benchmark Assessments are used to assess a student's learning at different times between instruction.
MAP: Test generated through the computer that shows student achievement in the areas of reading and math.
STAAR: Texas standardized test given to assess students' learning in relation to their specific grade level.
Summative
Summative Assessments are used at the of a unit to measure student learning. These assessments are high stake, in which they're worth a higher point value.

Performance
A Performance Assessment requires students to perform a task in comparison to selecting answers from a ready-made list.
Demonstrations: Students will demonstrate what they learned, typically used in science to understand a scientific process.
Debates: Students will discuss their knowledge gained on a subject and learn about valuing different opinions and perspectives through a debate.
Diagnostic
Diagnostic Assessments is a form of pre-assessments in which assess a student's knowledge and skills prior to instruction. This can help teachers to plan accordingly to meet student needs.

Student Survey: Students complete a survey about their understanding or ideas about a certain topic. Their answers can be used to gage student learning.
