Summative
Definition: A summative assessment is used at the end of an instructional unit to evaluate student learning and is compared against standard.
Midterm exam: This type of assessment is used in the middle of a semester to test student knowledge on instructional units covered in class.
Final project: This is completed at the end of an instructional unit or semester as a way for students to show what they learned.
Diagnostic
Definition: Are used a sort of pre assessment used to determine areas of student difficulty before the beginning of a class or unit to help address misconceptions during the lessons.

KWL: This can be used at the beginning of the lesson to see what the students wants to Know about the subject, possibly showing misconceptions.
Performance
Definition: this type of assessment is used to have students individually complete a specific task or assessment to determine how they perform academically.

Formative
Definition:This assessment gathers evidence of student learning. Teachers are able to adjust instructions instructional strategies to enhance student achievement.

Definition: This type of assessment is used to determine whether students are learning the instructional content and to determine areas of difficulties.
District benchmarks: These assessments are used to determine student competency. The results will help teachers to know where to focus on for future lessons leading up to larger stake assessments.
Interim testing:This is similar to benchmarks in the way that it is used to see whether students are on track in their academic growth. This helps to see how students will performs on future assessments.
