When GMOs are used on some foods it can give them more vitamins which can help people that don't have enough vitamins.
Claim:One benefit of GMOs is the abilities to add nutrition to foods otherwise lacking in vitamins.
Claim:A harmful effect of GMOs is that there could be genes from a food that someone is allergic to put into another food.
If genes from a food like a pineapple is put into an apple and the apple is eaten by someone with pineapple allergies eats it they will have an allergic reaction.
EVIDENCE:In the text it says, “For example, engineers are able to create rice that has vitamin A and iron. The modified rice is more nutritious” (Should the U.S. Support...).
EVIDENCE: In the text it says, “Transferring genes into an organism means the organism now contains new proteins, which could cause an allergic response where a threat wasn’t present before, according to a 2013 study published in Annals of Agriculture and Environmental Medicine” (Pros & Cons of GMO Foods).
COUNTERCLAIM(Abraham G.): This can be very expensive for people who are lacking vitamin A. If they can't afford to have vitamin A, then they can't afford to get GM rice.
COUNTERCLAIM(Abraham G.): These foods can be labeled.
COUNTERARGUMENT:From what I remember GMOs can make crops cheaper so it will actually be better for the peoples health and their money.
COUNTERARGUMENT: Yes that is true but it isn't required to label foods that are GM.
By using GMO's there can be vaccines in them which then can help people from getting diseases.
There could be toxins in the GMO's that can harm people because there would be chemicals inside that would kill insects and can also harm humans.
Foods like salmon could be GM to make it grow faster and it can also make it easier to grow.
