Euthanasia

Definition
Euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide refer to deliberate action taken with the intention of ending a life, in order to relieve persistent suffering.
Active euthanasia is when someone uses lethal substances or forces to end a patient's life, whether by the patient or somebody else.
Active euthanasia is more controversial, and it is more likely to involve religious, moral, ethical, and compassionate arguments.
Passive euthanasia is when life-sustaining treatments are withheld. The definitions are not precise. If a doctor prescribes increasing doses of strong painkilling medications, such as opioids, this may eventually be toxic for the patient. Some may argue that this is passive euthanasia.
Who is affected
Doctors - have the burden of deciding whether or not a patient is allowed to undergo euthanasia and mus live with the morally challenging decision and action.
Family and loved ones - watch loved ones suffer and can have a big influence in the decision to be euthanized.
Patient - Making the choice of death...will no longer live, may be experiencing unbearable suffering ect.

My current views
I currently disagree with euthanasia as I don't believe that killing people is the right thing to do .. ever. I also know that in many countries euthanasia is being abused.
why is it important?
In modern society, it is important to be informed and understand ethical issues such euthanasia as they challenge the values of an individual, the values of a community and the underlying principles of the nature of mankind.
