CLAIM: A major concern of GMOs is that it can develop a disease because they are using different kinds of viruses and bacteria for he foods and it can cause a new disease.
EVIDENCE: “Viruses and bacteria are used in the process of modifying foods, which means that there is a possibility that they could cause the development of a new disease” (symptom find)
COUNTERCLAIM (Lupita) What if the GMO would actually help a person or animal to get rid of the disease.
COUNTERARGUMENT: It could actually help the person or animal but there are more new types of genes being used on the foods and we don't know what they can do.
CLAIM: A major benefit of GMOs is that it can help with world hunger because with GMOs crops grow faster and are more nutrition.
EVIDENCE: "In 2011, 160 million hectares of biotech crops were grown—that's 10% of earth's arable land, and it was an 8% increase than the previous year" (the balance).
COUNTERCLAIM (Lupita) What if the GMO crop does not have that much nutritional value. The person would just be eating a crop but it would not help their health at all. They can also have to much of one mineral or vitamin and that would also not be good for their health.
COUNTERARGUMENT: Yes, your right but most crops that are GMO are made to be have more nutrition. Also, some GMOs are not good to help with your health but a lot of them can actually help.
