Claim: One concern or harmful effect of GMO crops like corn would have pesticides that can kill insects or bugs that happen to chow on the GMO crops. For example if a butterfly tries to get their daily helping of corn, then the butterfly gets killed off. If this proceeds to happen then the amount of butterfly's would significantly decrease.
Claim : GMO foods could have enhanced ingredients that could cause food allergies to people that are very harmful to humans.
Evidence: According to Bill Nye's video he says that the rare butterflies who fly at night would die then the bats would starve and have nothing to eat. Due to that the bats would not have any success at making babies. Then next summer there would not be enough bats to eat the mosquitoes that feast on human blood. Then all the humans would die of malaria. In theory of course.
Evidence : Some genetically modified foods may contain higher levels of allergens and toxins, which can have negative effects on the personal health of those who eat them. This may be especially dangerous for people with serious food allergies. (Pros and Cons of GMO foods) Link Title
Counterclaim ( Preston Alford ) : But if there is only a few butterflies to began with why is it such a big deal. The bats must have one other food source.
