Dust Bowl in the Great Plains : In the 1930's, a severe drought hit the Great Plains which resulted in erosion and loss of topsoil. Beginning on May 9, 1934, a strong, two-day dust storm removed massive amounts of Great Plains topsoil; this was one of the worst storms of the Dust Bowl. These storms took out people's homes, farms, and even kids/parents. With these storms hitting this hard, people from all over would migrate from place to place to try and get away from the dust.
