The Dust Bowl affected lots of people in northern texas, oklahoma, and kansas. The loss of vegetation caused the soil to erode and turn to dust, along with droughts and poor farming techniques. The soil was not suitable for farming and it had families move to california. People that were from oklahoma that moved there were called okies.

Huey long was the governor of louisiana during the great depression that proposed his share the Wealth Plan. His plan was to have the wealthy pay higher taxes. He wanted every american to have a guaranteed home, education, food and clothes.

Stock Market Crash 1929 was a big influencer to The Great Depression, and bring the Roaring 20s to a halt.
Banking Crisis of 1930 between 1930 and 1933 over 4,000 were closing. The banks went under because businesses that had gotten loans were unable to them back leaving the banks at a loss of money, therefore the money in said banks was gone

Herbert Hoover was the president during the Great Depression. When the crisis occured, he had no idea how to approach the situation. People started to lose their jobs and the unemployed workers didn't have any savings to pay off debts which had them lose their homes. Homeless people started living in tents and shacks called hoovervilles. Breadlines and soup kitchens were made to feed people and their families.
Court Packing Scheme was something that FDR did to get support from Supreme Court on his New Deal. He wanted to give power to Presidents to appoint more Supreme Court Justice

Consumerism- The Great Depression started with a fall in spending. There was overproduction which means that there was more being produced than what was needed. There was also underconsumption which was purchasing less than what is being produced. The multiplier effect was that one persons spending became another persons income.
FDR & New Deal FDR was President during the Great Depression and he came up with the 3 R's. Relief - a program the help the poor in the U.S.
Recovery - fix the Economy (TVA)
Reform - to make Government policies to prevent another Depression

The 2nd New Deal helped more during the depression. It created the Wagner Act and the Social Security Act. The Social Security Act was made to give a pension to people over 65 and for the disabled.
