The process of gathering evidence of student learning, providing feedback and adjusting instruction to strategies to enhance student achievement.

Interim/Benchmark
They provide teachers with information about which content standards have been mastered and which require additional instruction, identifying students' strengths and needs.
EX. The ACP examination, which is taken mid-year.

Summative
This type of assessment is used to evaluate student’s learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark.
