Summative
Definition: A summative assessment is used to assess students on the overall learning of a unit. This test will also count for a larger grade average as the stakes are high during this assessment.
6 Weeks common assessment: At the end of every 6 weeks the students will take a 6 weeks common assessment test that will over everything learned in the past 6 weeks.
Midterm Exam: An exam given during the middle of the year to assess the students on everything they have learned so far.
Performance
Definition: A performance assessment is a form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list.

Diagnostic
Definition: Pre-assessments that determine where the students stand. This will allow the teacher to plan for lessons to meet the needs of all students.

Non-graded Pre-test: A test given at the beginning of the instruction to see how much the students know before the instruction is given.
Formative
Definition: Formative assessment is a way of of getting feedback from the students to understand where they are during that unit and a way to adjust/modify your lesson. Formative assessments are base off of a unit, lesson, or course. A formative assessment has little to no grade value, as mentioned before it's just so see where the students stand.
KWL Chart: Students will first write what they know under the "K" column. What they want to learn under the "W" column and what they learned under the "L" column. The students will fill out the "K" and "W" before the lesson starts and and they will fill out the "L" at the end of the lesson.
Journal Entry: Students record in their journal their understanding of the topic or lesson taught. Teachers can then review the journals to see if the students gained understanding.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: A benchmark will assess the students on the lessons or units taught. A benchmark will give the teacher data on where the students are in their learning. whether they are on track or behind.
STAAR: Texas standardized test given to assess students' knowledge learned/ achievements in grade level.
ACP: Texas Standardized test given sometime during the middle of the school year. This will allow the teacher to see where the students are at if they are on track or not. This will also give teachers a good idea on which students might need to be held back.
