Performance
Definition: An assessment that gives the students a task to perform as opposed to standard written questions or tests.
Debates: A performance-based learning assessment that teaches students about viewpoints and opinions.

Formative
Definition: A low-stakes assessment used to monitor student learning. The feedback from the students assessments can be used to modify or adjust future instruction
Exit Ticket: Students will write a response on an exit ticket over the main idea of the lesson. Students will turn in exit ticket as they leave the classroom
Four Corners: This physical activity can be used to monitor student comprehension and gauge instruction. Four opinions/answers/choices will be places at each corner of the room. Students will be given a statement/question and must choose which corner to go to. Students must then discuss why they chose that corner.
Interim/ Benchmark
Definition: Assessments used to determine if students are on track with their learning for their grade-level and measure student progress over time.

I Station Tests: An interactive computer-based assessment used to measure student growth in reading. This is also used to determine if a student is a Tier 1, 2, or 3.

Diagnostic
Pre-course test exam: An exam given to students before the beginning of a new unit. Teachers will be able to plan for future instruction based on the results.
KWL chart: Students write or state what they know prior to the lesson, what they want to know, and what they have learned after the lesson.
Definition: A form of pre-assessment that allows the teacher to identify students individual strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills prior to instruction.or starting a new unit.
