PERFORMANCE
Definition: Performance assessments allow students to perform a task applying learned concepts or skills.

FORMATIVE
Definition: These assesments allow for teachers to monitor student learning and where instruction should be adjusted to meet the needs of the students. Usually participation grades or no grades are recorded.

SUMMATIVE
Definition Summative assessments are used to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit or semester. They are usually heavily weighted grades.

DIAGNOSTIC
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are pre-tests used to see what students know about a particular topic/concept.
