Struggling students and personalized learning
There is no set course of action for special education in my current school.
Collaborative effort by teaching staff to identify the needs of struggling students.
Formative and Summative Assessments
Identify what developmental stage student is with knowledge and skills of key concepts
3 basic stages: excellent, average, or needs work
Time allocation starts with students who need more help and students identified as excellent are offered more difficult tasks

Place struggling students alongside students who are excelling
Balance lessons with group work and individual based projects
School wide team "house points" used as reward system for students. Tokens are given to students who display good behaviors. At the end of the month points for 4 teams are tallied and a team is determined the winner
Tokens given to students in form of reward for things like first table cleaned up or sitting quietly waiting for instruction at the beginning of class.
Having individual conversations with students to connect and establish a positive relationship
Parental involvement
Post pictures of student work in parent group chats
Relay class and student information to the homeroom teacher who can relay the information to parents
As a specialist I don't have much interaction with parents
Students take home art projects
Student involvement
Design projects and lessons plans to allow for individual creativity and expression
Ask student to identify strengths and weaknesses of not only their artwork but their behaviors also
Allow students to determine a plan for each project and/or the whole semester
Ask students to determine what they would like to get better at.
