Characteristics
LOCATION- physical site and situation of a place in terms of where it is in relation to its surroundings and other places. Includes Latitude, Longitude, references from a map, distance and direction
LOCALE- thinking about a place in relation to where something happens. How a place is shaped by people, the effects they have, the culture and customs
SENSE OF PLACE- the subjective and emotional attachment people have to a place. Differs between people
PERCEPTION OF PLACE- thoughts people have about a place, based on personal experience or what they have heard through media
