Egyptian writing
Egyptians used hieroglyphics
hieroglyphics was one of the world's first form of writing
Writing in Ancient Egypt
earliest egyptian writings were carved around 3300 BC
originally, hieroglyphics were written in stone other hard material, later they would write on papyrus.
the egyptians made papyrus by pressing layers of reeds together and pounding them into sheets
the hieroglyphic writing system used more than 600 symbols, mostly pictures of objects
each symbol represented one or more sounds in the Egyptian language
hieroglyphics can be written up or down, left or right
The Rosetta stone
in 1799 historians were able to find the key to reading hieroglyphics, the Rosetta stone.
they learned that the Rosetta stone was the key because of a french soldier
the Rosetta Stone is a stone slab inscribed with hieroglyphics
they were able to translate the hieroglyphics because of the Greek and later Egyptian.

They were also good at stone carving such as huge statues and carvings on walls.
