Henry VII Governce and Rebelion
Rise to power
At the start of Henry VII reign he relised his position was weak and had to take action.
Arranged HIs corrination on 30th of October before parliment so that he can claim he was a king in his own right without parliments aid
He predated his rule so that anyone who sided with Richard III at the Battle Of Bosworth would be a trator and he will be able to attain there lands.
This would add to the Kings wealth which will make him more succure
He gained Papal permistion to marry Elizabeth of York
As she had a better claim to the throne, thsi ment that tere ofspring couldn't be challenged.
Tghis took place in January after his corination so he could claim that he was incontrole of the contry not her as she had a better claim

Richards 3rds nephews edward earl of warwick, John de la pole, earl of Linconqand warbeck was succesfuly removed by being sent to the Tower.

Henry was replaceing an unpopular King and a king who was also died
He also was not reliant ont he Nobles due for his power as he had attained large quantitys of land through attainder
Rebellion
Lovell conspiricy
In the nouth Yorkist support was strong and led by nobles who throught Henry shouldn't be King
This attempt failed because Henry heard of this event and sent armed force to offer rebles the choice of a pardon or war. The rebles layed down arms. However, Lovell fled to Flanders stratford was arrested and Humphery was killed.the other nobles were pardend and were made loyal.
Yorkshire Rebellion
This was a result of Henry raiseing money for the aid of Brittany in its struggle against France. Through substaty the goverment grantted Hery to raise £100,000 but little was raised. Yorkshire was particuly annoyed as they had a poor harvest in 1488. And also had Scto to pay for protecting England from Scotland
Despite these claims Henry refused to engoshate and the earl of Nouthumbland attempted to collect the tax and was executed.
Rebellion was crushed by royal aulthorities and suffork replace nouthumberland
Cornish Rebellion
in 1497 Henry attempted to raise money for war against scots and perkin warbeck but Cornmall saw little reason to pay taxs
rebellion made up of 15, 000 supporters and took exeter with the aid of perkin warbeck
Rebellion put down by 25,000 royal soliders
Leaders were executed and attained and the lesser threats were heavily fined
Simnel Rebellion
had the support from 2000 mercanys from Burgandy and support from Yorkist strongholds in Irland and Oxford
Henry offered pardens to everyone int the rebellion amking simnel loos support
Simnel pretended to be earl of warbeck a prince in the tower who was not executed, nefew of Richard the 3rd
Earl of lincon joined the rebellion
at the battle of stoke simnel was beaten due to Henry not making kingmakers therefore he would have no serious appointent
Simnel was paraded around london with the real earl of warwick then became a spit boy to show he was not even a threat
Warbeck rising
He was unable to gain large scale support in Englznd as atainder and high taxs lowered the power of the nobility
Moved to Burgandy were he gained support of marget of burgandy anfter treaty of estaples was signed in responce henry broke of trade with burgandy income dropped by 10,000 a year
Was unable to get large scale support in Irland due to falure of the simnel rebellion
Also gained support from maximilian who lacked finacheial support due to the italyian wars
Claimed to be Duke of York Richards son and brother to Elizabeth of york
Henrys spy network to find simpithisers and use acts of attainder against them incording lord william stanley the lord chamberlin.
Warbeck wnet to scotland where he married Henry VI daulter and declared war on england but it ended with the treaty of perpetual peace making Warbeck retreat to cornmall but defeated. and executed

THe nobility wanted to exploit a weak king who had a weak claim, to make them weaker he needed to take power given to them under Edward IIII

In the goverment the kings council was made up of 200 councilers but only smaller numbers attended suchas FOx Mortan and Dyham
Henry did not rely on particular familys but made his council from lesser nobles gentry and perfetionals. as they were able to advise the king more effiently
New councilers such as Dudly and epsom took charge in finaces
He attempted to let the noutth be held by itself but after the yourksire rebellion sent suffork into the nouth as a he was a lancastrian, then appointed memers of sufforks council for him
LOcal govements set up to hold law keep controle of powerful familys, JP's were often sent to local goverments to hold law and order as others could not.
Increased controle of law in wales by creating a concil.
Parmliment was not as important as it seamed as it had to be convied by the king, it was mainly used at the begining of his reign and near rebellions
