Climate Change
what are the impacts?
climate change can heavily impact the environment in ways such as having more droughts as water are getting evaporated at a faster rate , ice bergs would start melting faster and thus lesser home for those animals living in antartica(icebergs) and there would be a heavier precipitation and flooding in some areas as temperature rise there would more rain falling during heavy downpours
The melting of ice bergs would cause sea levels to rise and thus a higher chance of flooding in coastal areas
Ice in polar regions would start to melt and thus lesser space for animals living in polar regions , letting their home dissappear
What are the causes of climate change?
Deforestation also causes deforestation as There would be lesser trees to absorb the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and thus adding to the greenhouse effect
start putting a restricted areas in forests so that timbers would not be able to cut it down
The increase of livestock is also contributing to global warming , cows and sheep produces a large amount of methane when they digest their food
slow down the production of livestock
Fossil fuels is the burning of coal, oil and gas produces carbon dioxide , all these gases will be released to the earth's atmosphere and cause the temperature of earth to rise
start taking public transports so that there would be lesser carbon emissions
what is climate change
climate change is the change in global/region climate pattern , it also refers to the rise in average surface temperatures on Earth , it is the change of the global temperature over a long period of time
what can be done about it?
we can take public transports instead of our own cars as it would reduce carbon emission into the air we can reduce , reuse and recycle (3Rs) , use energy more wisely and spread awareness about climate change to people you know
what can citizens do about it
Citizens can use energy more wisely by using lesser aircon and take public transport instead of own cars and spread awareness about global warming to others
what can manufacturers do about it
Factories can start by turning off lights, computers, air conditioners and other appliances when not in use and encourage employees to use bicycle for daily commute and organize an activity to plant trees once per year
what can schools do about it
School can start keeping track of amount of electricity used per month and start saving electricity by turning off lights and fans in classrooms when not in use
How did climate change affect singapore?
Rise in temperature , From 1972 to 2014(Singapore), the annual mean temperature has increased from 26.6°C to 27.7°C
Singapore's average annual rainfall is from 2192mm in 1980 to 2727mm in 2014
most of Singapore lies only 15 m above the mean sea level, with about 30% of our island being less than 5 m above the mean sea level, thus sea level rise would be a major threat to Singapore
A mean temperature increase of 1.5°C to 2.5°would alter our ecosystem’s natural processes such as soil formation, nutrient storage and pollution absorption
