-Did the movie surprise you?
-Do you think this problem can be fixed and how?
CRITICAL THINKING
Small group work answering questions to reflect on the critical aspects of the movie and the information found on the Internet.
Steps:
Students will be divided into groups of three to answer questions related to their previous activities.
-Students will watch teacher model how the group should discuss the questions with a partner.
-Students will listen to the teacher model and give an example of a sample question and discuss with students how they might answer.
-Students will be given a list of 5 questions to respond to critically.
All students will be given the same 5 questions and will be discussed as a whole group when the answers are completed.
The questions are:
What was the purpose of the movie?
What action do I need to take?
Should I get another source of information? Why?
Do I agree with the information I received?
How has the information I have learned changed my thinking?
Work in small assigned groups and generate ideas on helping your community with the environment/recycling...what can you do starting at home?
In small groups, students will investigate local agencies or volunteer work in their communities to participate in Earth Day activities. This may include but is not limited to involving themselves in Key Club at school, volunteer work outside at playgrounds/parks etc. cleaning up an area park
