Characters
Cole - He is a bad kid because he smashed Peter's head into the sidewalk and people don't know what how they are going to help change Cole.
Cole - Cole has changed because he feels peace and he wants to live, an the part of the story that told us that was when Cole asked the baby birds if they were okay.
Cole's Mom - She never really stands up for her son Cole when he is getting hit by his dad with a belt. She always wants the best things to happen.
Cole's mom- She has changed because she is now talking to Cole and she is also sending Cole letters because she misses her son.
Cole's Father - Cole's father hits Cole with a belt when Cole does something wrong, and Cole's dad is always drunk cause he likes to drink.
Garvey - He is Cole's probation officer an Garvey is trying to help Cole change his ways of doing things badly. Garvey is saying that they should put Cole on an Island and leave him there for a while.
Garvey - He has change because when he found Cole dying on the island, he changed and wanted to help Cole, he didn't want Cole to die on that island.
Peter - He was beat up by Cole because he told the school that Cole did something bad and it got Cole in trouble, and Cole found out that Peter told the school, Cole smashed Peters skull into the sidewalk.
Peter- He has changed because he has tried to commit suicide 2 times and his parents are desperate and they are going to have Peter stay on the island with Cole and Garvey so he can heal like Cole.

Plot
Exposition - The beginning of the story starts when Garvey is taking Cole to the island and Cole is wearing the handcuffs.
Rising Action - The next part of the story is when Cole gets mad at Peter and smashes his skull into the sidewalk and he gets the choice to either has to go in jail, or go to the island, but Cole went to Circle Justice first before he was sent to the island to begin his banishment.
Climax - The middle of the story was when Cole was attacked by the Spirit Bear and some how was still alive afterward.
Falling Action - The falling action is when Cole was dying from the Spirit Bear's attack on Cole and he was left on the ground to die and that was the first time he thought about life, Cole wanted to live.
Resolution - The ending of the book s when Peter comes to the island, and later on, Peter and Cole saw the Spirit Bear and became "friends".
