System Data Life Cycle
1. Analysis
Agree the objectives with clients.
Identify and agree customer requirements
Interpret customers requirements
Identify the problems.
Produce a cost benefit analysis.
Describe the current system.
Identify suitable hardware and software.
Research or collect data from the current system.
Produce a data flow diagram.
2. Design
Design the data capture forms / input forms
Design the screen layouts,
Design outputs.
Produce system flowcharts
Select / design validation rules.
Design / agree on file structures.
Produce any algorithms
Design a plan.
3. Development and testing
It is important to check that the correct data is stored in files. The validations rules are to ensure that anything doesn't go wrong.
Any system being developed will have some sort of user interface. How these are used to interface would now need to be identified.
If the system contains files, then file structure would need to be finalized at this stage. For example, what data is being stored.
3. Development and testing
Implementation
There is a need to train staff on the new system.
Transfer paper files or electronic files to the new system.
Changeover to the new system
