- - - - The theme of Marginalization was shown when the teacher tried to pronounce some Maori. " And, boy try to keep control. You know, like what you Maoris say.. how does it go... keey... yaar...kaar...haar." When it should have been pronounced like this, "Kia kaha, sir ." this is showing us that the teacher is disrespecting Tama as he is Maori. The teacher should have known how to pronounce Maori as this make Tama feel excluded at school.
        
        The theme of Marginalization was also shown when the teacher was not let Tama hongi Darryl at the funeral. " What ever, Tama, You keep your culture and your nose to your self." This would make Tama feel angery that the teacher disrespected his culture and sad that he can't say goodbye to Darryl using his culture. Also it would make Tama feel excluded in class.
- - - - His family and teachers should teach him boundaries, he isn’t at fault as he didn’t know any different, he just wanted to see his friend.
    - - He didn’t actually get permission from Daryl’s mother to see him, Tama just turned up.
