Monsters, Inc. and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens - Karam Kadi
Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then be understood
- After the entire adventure with her and beginning to understand her feelings, Boo isn't scared of the monsters and the monsters aren't scared of Boo anymore. Sully will deeply miss Boo .
- After Sully see's himself in the replays of the scare simulation, he begins to understand Boo's feelings
-
Habit 7: Sharpen the saw
The heart is one of the most important aspects of "sharpening the saw" because it allows you to practice what you feel and know is right.
Habit 6: Synergize
Sully becomes re-energized after finding out Boo's door was remade by Mike, putting the final chip back, then looking into Boo's door and seeing Boo.
Habit 1: Proactive
- To show he is proactive, he starts to workout first thing in the morning
- This behavior "Isn't worth it" because when you pick fights with coworkers, you are doing the opposite of what the workplace needs, which is synergy within the workplace.
- Randall shows defective actions of habit 1 by beginning to attack Mike and looking for trouble, rather than doing something productive
- The presence of Randall makes Mike scared, and he starts to be more defensive and use more aggressive vocabulary.
- After Sully meets Boo, he starts to become more reactive rather than proactive
- The presence of Randall makes him jump back to Sully, which he knows can protect him from Randall. Later Mike says he hopes Mike will teach him a lesson.
- They aren't being proactive by being scared of the kid and panicking, look for a solution, but to no avail
- The expected reaction to Mike seeing himself be covered by a logo on the commercial was disappointment, but he was actually ecstatic anyway because he was on a commercial regardless.
- By making the kids laugh because he wasn't originally a scarer, he is being proactive and doing his new job well
Habit 4: Think win-win
- Randall becomes the major obstacle that destroys any chance of a win-win.
- Mike's win-win when he sees any door is only short term because they are putting Boo in any door he finds, even if it's the wrong one.
- He begins to understand Sully and reason with his feelings, and comes to a conclusion that putting the kid back more than anything else is the most righteous thing to do
-
