Labaree Part 1- Public Goods, Private Goods: The American struggle over educational goals.
Democratic Equality
“The recent movement to raise educational standards has made it clear that the call for increased "competency over challenging subject matter" is intended in part to "ensure that all students learn to use their minds well, so they may be prepared for responsible citizenship"” (Labaree, 1997, p. 44)

"The first goal is the most thoroughly political in that it sets as it s goal the preparation of students as actors in the political arena. " (Labaree, 199, p.42)

“The social mobility goal asserts that schools should provide students with the educational credentials they need in order to get ahead in this structure (or to maintain their current position).” (Labaree, 1997, p. 50)
This is what I want to add to Social Mobility to help not only myself but others understand this goal better.
