BE on-stage branding ideas
physical banners
BE screen front banner
to date, problems are:
people leaning onthe banner
banner starts to look dirty & battered, shows on media
needs to be lit to look really good
can we use the board/perspex solution
needs to fit in a stand
needs to be lit
clip on lights?
back-lit through right material (mesh?)
drop down banner that fixes to the actual screen, free flowing, just hangs and blow in the wind, so to speak
so easy... to store, transport, setup
cheap to replace
just big enough to hide the top of the screen stand?
PA stack banner poster/ scrim
CONS
would have to be lit to look good
would need 2, more stuff, more cleaning
different PA setups maybe a problem
free standing exhibition type banner
don't really like this, flimsy, though it could go next to drummer and be safer
circle/ square logo better?
could mean the front screen banner board is smaller/ lighter? Could we hang a round logo board around the neck of the screen stand?
would be larger/ more visible as a PA stack banner prob
engage logo artist to come up ideas :!: :
small physical/ hard copy
kick drum
sticker or scrim?
really needs to be a circle/ square logo instead of rectangle
flyers/ menus
go gloss next time
laptop sticker
can be landscape logo as it, but also could be round/ square logo
digital
a projection?
search in YT for:
projector for stage backdrop
CONS
probably expensive options
projections won't always have a place to project to
PROS
could look great, and make bare walls look fab, great for non-corporate low-production venues - we can transform
compact to transport, weight of QuSB mixer, so good for other team members to carry
PA stack audience monitors
CONS
not in central shot for media
having only 1 on one side, may looks odd, may need stereo
won't always have use of 3rd party stacks at corp shows
more bulk to transport, 2x flat screens with clamps, laptop to run? (hard to roll out to team)
2 screens wouldn't be the cheapest options, but cheaper than projector potentially
PROS
stereo monitors would look amazing
clamped to speaker stands, would be space efficient, wouldn't need more stands
can adapt to changing branding - & can display client graphics if required
free standing display monitor by drummer (gorilla stand)
PROS
interim solution, if not permanent?
will need to explore a visual sequence and including the logo :!:
will need a new screen, what size? another 32"? :!?:
will need laptop to run, or can we plug in a USB stick to a TV screen to run media? :red_flag:
if need laptop, then whoever holds backup lyric laptop facility, can double as running the logo screen (the laptop could the be default anyway)
can be placed next to drummer, centre shot 4 media & high up
could be used in every scenario I think, very flexible
even if drummer is off stage, can leave on stage
even if there is backdrop
even if 3rd party are doing all the other production
A single screen banner option means we could potentially use a double screen bag for this & the BE screen
though at mo, the adapter to fix screen to the gorilla stand would not fit in the screen bag
or drummers hold lyric screen, and bassists or band leader holds logo screen (me, Cox & BF?)
safer than front banner, no damage from audience
digital display doesn't have dirty/ tatty issues that physical banner has
Surprise PROs
can easily be turned off & on with logo if show is a surprise
easier to wheel the screen stand w/o a front banner into place, though easier to leave lyric screen in situ, and cover with a throw anyway
CONS
will it look any good? will a front physical banner with lights look better?
obstacles
if i change branding, physical products will need to be changed
General Thoughts
Digital Setups
Level 1: single display by drummer
Level 2: add to 1, with stereo PA stack monitors, link all 3? Reserve for large gigs - offer as add-on?
projector: needs to be an add-on 'cus:
not suitable for all situations
i.e. where u don't have a wall/screen, or where it conflicts with 3rd party prod
expensive
client can use to project personal image before our show and after we finish?
another pro for a digital display is that it doubles as lyric screen BU
