TESCHEN
Poland and Czechoslovakia disagreed over land for economic reasons
The League was asked to intervene through
arbitration
They ruled that Poland kept the majority of land, while Czechoslovakia was awarded a suburb with the most valuable mines
In January 1919, Polish and Czech troops fought in Teschen and many died
SUCCESS/FAILURE
Solved peacefully, but disagreements continued for 20 years
RUHR
Germany failed to pay reparations in 1922, because they couldn't afford to
Anti-German feeling was strong, and the Allies refused to accept that they 'couldn't' rather than they 'wouldn't'
France and Belgium invaded the Ruhr, an industrially and economically valuable area of Germany
FAILURE
The League did nothing, despite two of it's members going against the League's principles

Netiher could agree on the ownership
The League used their tactic of
arbitration
to decide
Decision for remaining with Finland, but no weapons to be kept on the islands
