At the beginning of the story Harry lives with his uncles in a suburb of London. He is an unhappy boy, subject to the harassment of his uncles and a cousin, until one day a letter arrives, brought by an owl, in which it is said that Harry is called to attend the Hogwarts School of Magic and Witchcraft. The uncles do their best to hide the news and prevent the boy from leaving and eventually Hagrid, the school keeper, will have to go in person to take Harry away. From Hagrid Harry learns of his story, of being a magician and of his parents' death at the hands of Voldemort.
