Integumentary System:
Components
-
Connective Tissue: Dermis: 1 Papillary Layer: Composed of areolar CT. 2 Reticulary layer: Composed of Dense Irregular CT
-

-
-
Function
-
Temperature Regulation: Blood vessels and sweat glands. Increasing or decreasing diameter of allowing more or less heat brought to skin
-
Production of Vitamin D: produces with help pf UV radiation to help body absorb calcium of strong bones and tissue.
Sensory reception: Nerve endings, feeling of touch
SUBCUTANEOUS or hypodermis layer: Primary adipose tissue, provides isolation and connection to deeper tissue, loose connection to muscle
Cells in Epidermis:
-
Stem Cells: differentiate, located in stratum basal layer. Produce Karatinocytes. regenerate the rest of cells
-
-
-
Layers of Epidermis:
Stratum Basal: Stem cells, melanocytes, keratinocytes, basal layer of cells in epidermis of skin
Stratum Spinosum: have spines, fibers connected to desmosomes
Stratum granulosum: appear as granules, produce water proofing glycolipid
Stratum Lucidum: only in thick parts of skin, creates extra barrier
