Where are the Jobs?
"In Augusta, Ga., Salt Lake City, Knoxville, Tenn., and Vallejo, Calif., livable-wage, middle-skill jobs will be the primary driver for overall job growth, accounting for nearly half of all new jobs."
Many of the jobs today are becoming middle-skill jobs. "By 2017,an estimated 2.5 million new, middle-skill jobs like Poole's are expected to be added to the workforce, accounting for nearly 40% of all job growth". A lot of these middle-skill jobs pay at least $13 an hour and do not require as much training as a bachelor degree.

In today's society everyone is pushing teens to pursue a 4 year degree, which contributes to the reason for shortages of skilled workers.
Directional Drilling
A directional or horizontal hole may be drilled into a formation by first positioning or orienting a window turning shoe in an original well bore. Once the window turning shoe has been positioned, a window is milled through the casing with a window mill. The window mill is then removed and a guide tool is then latched to the window turning shoe. Once in position, the guide tool enables a mechanical motor driven curve drilling assembly to create a curved hole. Following the completion of the curved hole, the directional or horizontal hole is extended with a conventional drilling assembly.
In other words
Basically, there is a head with rough knobs on it. The drill spins the head until it can get a hole started in the ground. Once the head breaks through the ground, the driller will keep spinning it and go further into the ground. Once it goes through, rods are pushed behind the head to further drill out the hole for the pipe.
They pay usually ranges from $10- $35 hourly
Travelling is apart of the job
If you want and have the drive, you can move up in the ranks to better pay
Requires training but can be trained fairly quick

Who are getting the Jobs?

The majority of the jobs are being taken by high school grads with no further education
"In February, there was an increase of 1.375 million of these educated workers compared with January levels. But that was the high point for 2018. Since reaching 57,260,000 workers for this group in February, the numbers have dropped steadily and settled around where they are today."

The beginning after your degree

"More than 40 percent of college graduates take a job out of school that didn't require a degree"
"Recent grads who end up in jobs that didn't require a college degree are five times as likely to still be in such a position five years later, compared with those who put their diploma to use right way."
Most grads are not prepared to find a job for their specific degree. Also if a grad gets a job that does not require their degree, they are likely going to stay there.
The job right out of college is the most important job. If you get into a routine of a job that doesn't require your degree than you are likely to never get out of that routine.
