Natural and Moral Evil
The inconsistent triad
This says that if God is all powerful and can change anything with the trait of loving everything, why doesn't abolish evil for humans sake

Moral Evil is when an evil act is committed conscientiously with a bad intent. This includes murder and homicide, and terrorist attacks.
Natural Evil is a force of nature like earthquakes and tsunamis that we cannot control. This includes natural disasters and disease

Christian responses
Christians believe that moral evil is the result of the freewill that god has given us. Many Christians believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans created by god and they were the first to choose to sin because of their freewill. Sin lead to moral evil
Christians believe that all humans are born with original sin, inherited for Adam and Eve. Although this can be cleansed by baptism, humans still have the tendency to sin because of our freewill. This means that they often turn away from the goodness of god. This leads to moral evil, such as violence and murder
Jesus worked to help those who suffer, so that is what we must do. e.g. become nurses, doctors, work for charity

Some Christians will say the reason God allows suffering to happen in because it can bring out good in people. We need to suffer to learn how to be living and good to others.
God will reward those who suffer on Earth- suffering is a test of faith. Book of Job- God and the devil are talking. the devil said the inly reason people follow you is because you give them a comfortable life. God said have one of my followers and do whatever you want to him but you cant kill him. The follower, Job, never said he had had enough of god and he was rewarded with his family back and no injuries, everything was restored, and then some
John Hick says that suffering helps us to become better people. Only by overcoming challenges can we become 'Children of God'
Some believe that there is no point worrying about suffering as it is a part of God's plan for us, which we don't understand.
Maxillian Kolbe Sacrificed himself in Auschwitz for someone else. He was said to last for 2 weeks withoout food or water in a cell by himself.
Theodices

St. Augustine
He claimed that evil and suffering is not Gods fault. In genesis it says that God made a perfect world '...His creation was good.' created humans with freewill. Moral evil is the result of sin and natural evil is the punishment
-
Irenaeus
He claimed that God made man in the image but not the likeness so life is a testing ground for us to develop. The Vale of the Soul Making.

If earth is perfect, what would be the point in heaven?
Non Religious responses
Moral evil is the result of our natures as human beings. Evolution means that we are naturally selfish, due to survival of the fittest'. This can lead us to cause harm towards others because we are competing for survival
-
Suffering is a fact of life. There is no purpose for suffering, we just have to accept it and do the best we can in the face of it
They also believe that it an help us to develop as a species, e.g. creating new technology and medicine to combat things like cancer or pollution (catalytic converters)

St Augustine - "Either God cannot abolish evil or he will not; if he cannot he is not all-powerful, if he will not he is not all good
