Hugh Greene became Director-genreal of BBc he made changes moving funds from radio to Tv and changing guidelines ie nudity and swearing with a new style of news presentation.
ITV launched in 1955 allowing advertising to expand and BBC 2 launched in April 1964 allwing BBC to be more populist and BBC 2 being the first to show regular coloured programs.
Radio survied due to cheap car radios , portability and headphones
Beginning of 1960's there was only 3 BBc radio stations but young people would listen to pop on pirate radio stations that were later banned.
After the Pirate stations were banned BBc opened BBc Radio One a pop station and used some of the pirate station presneters
Some newspapers survived and became stronger such as the Sun in 1964 replacing the serious working class newspaper

The Royal Court Theater in London , after Bond's play Early morning was banned in 1967, backbencher george Strauss introduced a bill to abolish theatrical censorship with Roy Jenkins support and Laurance Oliver passed in 1968
