Different ways of working
Full time work
No specific hours but thus type of worker will usually work 35 hours a week.
The maximum work by law is 48 hours.
Part time work
Someone who works 35 hours or less a week
Receives benefits on a pro rata basis
Might be a student who works at the same times as studing.
Flexible work
Is a way of working that suits the employees needs
e.g.having flexible start and finish times
Can help a business cover temporary gaps in staff numbers due to sickness or holidays.
Employees can be asked to work this way by being given a a zero hours contract(they don't know how many hours they will work.)
Contract
Permanent contract
Employee is employed on an ongoing basis.
Receives benefits on a pro rata basis
Temporary contract
An employee will be employed for a fixed amount of time
For example could be a business hiring someone to cover someone on parental leave.
Freelance contract
This person is not employed by the business but is self employed
Sets their own wage and may offer a range of services
A written agrement between two people or organistaions.
