The Iroquis
-
Area
Their most important resource was wood, because they used it to make most of their tools and housing.
They lived east of the Mississippi River, and this provided water for many trees to grow.
The climate was also very good for farming, so they grew corn, beans, and squash.
Shelters
They protected their villages using palisades, which were fences made out of sharp wooden poles.
The Iroquis people lived in longhouses, which were made out of bent wooden poles covered with bark.
They could fit up to 20 families, and they were divided into sections, each for one or two families.
Note: since the Algonquians aren't similar to the Iroquis, they aren't included in the mindmap.
