Jewish children are taken to England at the last minute. Children stayed with foster families before moving to England

The German army enters Amsterdam
German soldiers drove to Amsterdam fought the Dutch Army at Grebbeburg during the German invasion.

The February Strike
it started by the action of the Tram Transport shutdown, causing people to know what was going on. People went on strike fore two days in protest against the raid on Jewish men.

American consulate is closed: escape no longer possible
people in the Netherlands could no longer obtain a visa (Otto and his family couldn’t either) Otto applied but so did other people. With too many applications the prices took a very long time.

Germany and its allies invade Greece
With Italy, Bulgaria, and Hungary as allies with the Germans, the germans invaded Greece and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. On May 17th Yugoslavia surrendered

After the Pearl Harbor attack from the Japanese, the Netherlands declared war on Japan. The Netherlands formed an army with United States, Great Britain, and Australia.

The allies landed in an island located off of the southern tip of the Italian mainland. Germans and Italians didn’t expect an attack in stop winds and bad weather.

After five months of fighting Germany finally surrendered. They were defeated by the Soviet Union.

Around 17,000 Jews were arrested. The raid had been prepared in secret by the Nazis

The people from the Secrwt Annex are taken to Aushwitz
People from the Secret Annex are transported by train to Aushwitz. The traveled with 1,011 other Jews. They were packed tightly in closed goods carriages. After two and a half long days they arrived at night.

German officer attempts to assassinate Hitler
A German officer Claus Von Stauffenberg placed a bomb under a table during a meeting with Hitler, but his attempt fails for as Hitler survived the attack.

Hitler’s last attack: The Battle of the Bulge
Germany made a last attempt to defeat the allies. Catching the allies of guard he sent more troops to the border with Belgium and Luxembourg.

Otto receives the diaries
After Anne’s death Meip keeps the diaries and hands them to Otto since Anne wasn’t coming back. Otto took awhile to read the diaries, and when he did he told other people to read them too. After that he decided too publish the book.

Germany surrenders. The Netherlands is liberated
the Germany army in north west Europe surrenders to the allies, that were under the command from the British general Montgomery.
March 5,1945
Otto travels back home
Otto left and by thetime he came back he receives the heartbreaking news that his wife Edith had died.
