The Aztecs were an advanced society that was led by Hernan Cortez and were located in Mexico. They had strong beliefs and one of those beliefs meant human sacrifice.

The countries Spain, Portugal, France, and England were all in search for God, Gold, and Glory. That is why they went exploring for new land.
Christopher Columbus came from Spain to discover a new way to trade goods from India so he could buy the goods for cheap and then sell them for more money. He then stumbled upon the American soil.

The Puritans believe that their fate was already determined by God. For example, if something good happened to them, then they thought that God was telling them that they were going to heaven.
The Puritans arrived at the New World in 1630 and were lead by John Winthrop. They were the ones that held the Salem Witch Trials.

Massachusetts was a theocracy which meant that their laws were based off of religion and the religious leaders had the most authority.
Rhode Island was founded in 1636 by Roger Williams as a haven for the Baptists. They had good relations with the Native Americans that were there.
Jamestown
The leader of the Jamestown Colony was John Smith who came to the New World in search of resources such as gold.
It was the first lasting colony even though it almost did not survive due to the high amounts of famine and disease.
The colonists started getting salt poisoning because they were drinking water from the James river during a drought (brackish water) which was high in salt.
