individual consumption
you are consuming a media product individually, I.e. watching a DVD, playing a console game , reading an e-book
advantages: its more private to the individual, its easy to access, you have total control over what media product you'd like to consume as you won't have to ask others opinions.
group consumption

advantages: you can socially interact with your friends, larger sense of belonging, can be shared with friends

the number of viewers outside the primary target audience, it can affect consumption statistics if it isn't accounted for.
active viewing
the consumers that physically interact with the product and influences the production of the product and its content. they have an element of control over how they interact with the product.
