Maria Vargas Goals EDUC 1300
4 Motivations
After finishing this semester I get to hopefully move onto a University. Intrinsic
I get to raise up my GPA because this is a class I'm retaking. Intrinsic
This class will also help me graduate, even it's a retake, it assures my academic success. Intrinsic
I get my associate's degree and make my family proud. Both intrinsic and extrinsic
3 things to do
I definitely need to set my priorities straight, Since I am taking 3 college classes and 3 high school classes, I need to re-evaluate what to put as my main priorities.
Time management, after setting my priorities I need to find out how long and how much time I can spend on each assignment.
Paying attention to the lecture. After EDUC I go to lab where we take a quiz over the material we learned the previous week. Instead of cramming, I should study days before in order to memorize and focus on my EDUC class.
2 Resources
I've never been to a tutoring session at TJC, but I do know it is an amazing resource. TJC tutoring.
My professor, I can email or visit during office hours to ask questions regarding the assignments.
1 Question
If I fail this class how can it affect my overall GPA?
I learned that the highest grade from the retake of a course stays, so if I were to fail this class my grade from before would keep its spot.
1 Academic Goal other than EDUC: Pass my Lab class along with Lecture Jan 2019-May 2019
By completing this course, I am able to graduate both High School and College since it's required for both sides. Intrinsic.
Once I do pass this course and graduate I get my Associate's degree. Intrinsic.
My family will be proud of me since I'll be the first to graduate with an Associates. Extrinsic
My aunt promised to buy me a car if I graduated high school. Intrinsic.
EDUC 1300 Goals Jan 2019-May 2019
2 Resources
It is a big benefit to have my Biology lecture instructor is my high school professor. It gives me an advantage by staying after school when I am having a hard time understanding the material.
The tutoring center is also an excellent choice since students can explain and teach knowing tricks and shortcuts
Financial Goal: Get a job and save money. March 2019- August 2019
3 things I need to do
Stop cramming before my lab class, study days in advance.
Look over my notes and power point instead of just making educated guesses.
Pay attention and stay for tutorials, if I have a hard time understanding the material.
1 Question:
What happens if I am failing a class during your final semester of college, will I still be able to walk at your scheduled commencement?
I learned that I might be able to, there are several professors who give out finals during the last day of class. The time of grading can also vary since one professor can't grade several tests at once.
4 Motivators
Save up money for college.
Ensure a stable future (for the meantime).
Not depend on my parents
Get experience interacting with others
2 Resources
Talk to someone who has had a few job interviews and get an idea of what I'll be asked.
Talk to multiple people and ask about the job they're working at and learn a bit about what to expect.
3 things I need to do
Find a job suitable for me that doesn't pay super low wage for for a lot of work
Be less shy and learn to be more open
Make sure I'm ready mentally to be committed to working for a few months.
1 question
Can job-hopping badly affect my resume?
After searching up on Monster.com, which is a career advice website, it says that if job-hopping does occur, use your cover letter to explain your work history but to put a positive spin on your circumstances for job-hopping
