Nullah
He is the small kid. He is Mr. Fletcher's son, so he is a halfcast.
Lady Sarah Ashley
Rich, british who is married to the owner of the cattle ranch. When he dies, she takes over as the owner. She is a fine woman who is not used to the outback or the people there. She called Mrs. Boss.

Section One

Lady Ashley arrives Australia from England. She is a fine lady and definetely not used to the way things are in Australia. She is not used to the sand and dirt, the animals nor the men acting like savages. She comes only to find out that her husband was murdered. She is told he was killed by King George, an Aboriginal man.
Section Four
Nullah eventually runs away, and Drover has already left. Nullah and his grandfather is captured by the white men. King George is imprisoned and Nullah is sent to Mission Island along with other aboriginal boys. Sarah tells him she will come to get him.
The war breaks out and the Japanese attack with aircraft. They take down Mission Island first. The whole town is burned down, but Sarah and King George survives. Drover comes back and goes to the Island along with Ivan(the bartender) and his aboriginal "brother", to save the boys. They find the boys and when they are about to bring them, Japanese soldiers attack. The black man dies trying to buy the others some time. They manage to escape.
Drover leaves after an argument with Sarah. The argument was about how Sarah did not want Nullah to go walkabout and Drover telling her she has to. But the reason for him accepting Nullah's desire was not the fact that it was something the kid had to do because it in his nature. It was the fact that he did not want to be tied to someone, he did not want the responsibility.
Lady Sarah is about to leave with the australian soldiers but stops when she hears Nullah playing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow on the harmonica from the boat. She is reunited with both Drover and her boy. Just when they are about to enter what's left of the bar, Mr. Fletcher shoots Nullah, but King George throws a spear thorugh his torso, and Nullah survives. They go out in the nature again, but Nullah is called by King George, signaling him that it is time for him to walkabout. This time Sarah lets him go.

Section Three
There is an action held for selling Faraway Downs. Carney offers to buy it for 500 pounds and just when Lady Sarah Ashley agrees, Drover shows up and she changes her mind. It finally rains after a long dry period, and Faraway Downs flourishes with plantlife. It becomes beautiful again. Drover and Sarah are living happily there with alle the workers, as well. They are in love.
Mr. Fletcher kills Mr. Carney ("The King") and offers to purchase Faraway Downs, but when Lady Sarah Ashley rejects his offer, he threatens her and leaves.
King George leads the Faraway Downs people to the city through the desert. After three days, they finally reach the city. There is competition between them and the Carney's to get the cattle on the ship first. They Carney people are too slow, and end up not having their cattle on the ship.
Section Two
Daisy dies: Nullahs mother dies by drowning when she and Nullah are hiding in the tank when the coppers are looking for them.
Moving the cattle: the Faraway Downs people are moving the cattle because they are trying to reach the ship. When they are resting one night, Mr. Fletcher and some of his men light fires amongst the cattle which cause the cattle to panic and start running towards a cliff. They manage to stop the cattle, but the accountnant ends up dying in the process due to being ran over by the cattle.
Setting
The story takes place in Darwin in the Northern Territory in Australia before and during World War Two (1939). We also see some scenes in England at the beginning of the movie.
