Mixture separation methods
Mechanical separation methods
Centrifuging and decantation - Separate components of a supension or a liquid colloid.
Decantation - Separate liquid components of heteregeneous mitxtures with different densities.
Filtration - Suspended solid fragments are extracted from a liquid.
Leaching - Separate mixtures of solids of similarly sizes.
Sieving - Separate mixtures of solids different sizes.
Magnetic separation - Allows to separate different components with magnetic properties.
Sedimentation and decantation - Based on the difference of densities, allows to separate components of a suspension.
Flotation - Allows to separate mixtures of similarly sizes solids by density.
Physical methods
Chromatography - Allows to separate the components acording to the speed at which they travel through an absorbent suface , such as a piece of paper.
Vaporation - Allows to separate solutions of solids in a liquid solvent.
Distillation - Allows to separate different liquids with different boiling points.
Material
Flotation : Paper filters , mixture of sand and sawdust, a baker and some water
Magnetic separtion : Magnet, sand with metal filings and a paper sheet.
Decantation : Empty beakers , decantation funnel and stand and a baker with mixture
Leaching : Paper filter, beakers, mixture of salt and sugar, alcohol and a dish
Centrifuging and decantation Test tubes, centrifuge and a rack.
Chromatography: Flter paper and filter holder, marker and
a glass filled alcohol
Sedimentation and decantation : An empty receiving baker and a beaker with suspension
Filtration : receiving beaker, funnel, empty beaker and a filter paper
Distillation: Distillation devise
Sieving : sieve and mixture
Vaporization:Water with salt and bunses burner
