Sodapop is protective and gentle with Ponyboy. He does his best to make Pony know he cares, and he's always there for him. He's also seen as super handsome. Everyone says they could fall in love with him, but he loves sandy.

Steve doesn't like ponyboy. He sees ponyboy as a bother and nuisance. Ponyboy doesn't like him. His specialty was cars, and that's noted in the book. The only reason Ponyboy tolerated him was because he was sodas best friend.
Sandy was a good girl. She also made Soda super happy. He talked about being in love with her and how much he wanted to marry her. Soda talks about her some and absolutely loves her.
Johnny is seen as lost. After he got jumped the first time he is quiet and thoughtful. The gang thinks of Johnny as "the pet" of the group. The whole group loves him, even if he feels like no one else does.
S.E writes" he couldn't stop making funny remarks to save his life"
He was funny, no matter what making jokes. He made everyone
feel better no matter the situation. He was the life of the party. He wasn't seen as rude or angry at all.
Ponyboy is into his own life. He thinks a lot about every situation, and wants it to turn out well, though he knows it wont. Ponyboy is also super artistic and see's people in a way that perceives that.
Darry works hard, and supports his family. He really tries but doesn't know how to go about things sometimes. He does a lot for how young he is. I feel like his parents death took such a large toll on him, and he takes it out on ponyboy.
Dally is cold hearted because of his history. He protects the group and his own. Although he makes mistakes, everyone cares about him. He's one of the strongest seen in the group.

Cherry is super sweet. She's also understanding and caring. In a way I feel like she reads a lot, which just shows in the way she acts. It says a lot in the book how pretty and fiery she is.
The author said "Gosh, she was pretty"(22). Which was direct.
Hinton said "But Marcia saw no reason to throw away a perfectly good, free coke "
Marcia is small and sweet. She's not as outspoken as Cherry. She's really nice and more quiet than cherry too. She's a cheerleader.
David is a character who's not in the book often. He's another follower of Bob. He's more quiet than the other two. He's also a Soc
