OTB CHAPTER 11 pt 2
emerging perspectives
Full-range leadership theory (FRLT) involves nine dimensions covering both transformational and transactional leadership, especially emphasising contextual variables which link observations to a set of relevant facts, events or points of views.
Shared leadership is a dynamic, interactive influence process among individuals in groups for which the objective is to lead one another to the achievement of group or organisational goals or both.
Strategic leadership is identified by concern for the advancement of the organisation, including its evolving capabilities and goals.
Innovation leadership is leadership that makes a difference in the nature and success of creative efforts.
Ethical leadership is leadership that abides by core values and standards acceptable to both the institution and society.
Authentic leadership involves owning one’s personal experiences (values, thoughts, beliefs and emotions) and acting in accordance with one’s true self (expressing what you really think and believe and acting accordingly).
Servant leadership involves leaders making a deliberate choice to serve others and to put other people’s needs, aspirations and interest above their own.
Spiritual leadership is inclusive of religious and ethically based values, attitudes and behaviours.
Sustainable leadership reflects an emerging awareness among people who select to lead their organisations in a manner that accounts for its impact on the environment, people (social) and society, including the health and global communities.

diversity issues
Women still face difficulty progressing up the corporate hierarchy. Some transfer into leadership positions from other fields or become leaders through succession in family businesses.
Ageing may affect cognitive ability and decision making but it may also improve our ability to make judgements as we become naturally experienced and wise.
Culture- power-distance values were found to be a negative predictor of charismatic/value-based and participative leadership.
charismatic leadership
Charismatic leaders are those who by force of their personalities are capable of having a profound and extraordinary effect on followers. They are high in need for power and have high feelings of self-efficacy and conviction in the moral rightness of their beliefs.
